Jennylynne Gragg

A passion for oils, pastels, acrylics and watercolor

JENNYLYNNE GRAGG: We cannot have a passion for the world  if we cannot see the beauty and diversity our world provides. By painting and focusing on the more intimate things , I hope to help people connect with the intimacies around us.

BIO:She  became a full time artist in 2006. To hone her craft she took workshops and classes with national artists and painted daily. She exhibits her art in many venues and also does commissions. She has pursued her art education with many wonderful teachers and continues to hone her skills and experiment with new ideas which enhance her art experience and direction. She focuses her art in oils and acrylics using a process that starts with transparent paint and builds the color out from there using brush and palette knife techniques. She uses this technique under both her oils, acrylics and pastels. She uses the transparent color to work "behind the scenes" and enhance the final top color layers. Painting in Pleinair has enhanced her studio work, she paints alla prima in the studio to carry on the feeling she achieves when painting in plein aire. The spontaneity of plein aire work helps to capture the essence and beauty of a painting on location or in the studio.

She also loves working in pastels, especially in her animal portrait work.  She has also added watercolors to her painting mediums and is enjoying the freshness and spontaneity they provide.

Art is communication, her paintings a conversation.  IN addtion to her gallery venues, she creates custom paintings of  gardens, flowers and landscapes, people and animals. She creates from studies and  photos of the places she has traveled to.

In addition to her art, she also continues to play music in a duo with her husband, Michael. They traveled for tens years on the road across the United States as a band and also as a duo known as The Affair. She enjoys all genres of music and continues writing her own music along with short stories and poetry.
